Balote

Moroccan Balote Card Game

The Moroccan belote you know from family tables and café evenings — real felt, real card feel, zero fuss.

One trick, start to finish

Four players, two teams, one card each. Follow the suit if you can. The highest trump takes the trick — and any trump beats any card that isn't one, whatever it's worth.

This is the whole game, eight times a hand.

Two decks, one set of rules

Spanish or French card art, your choice — and you can switch mid-match. They are the same 32 cards: only the printed face changes, never the points or the pecking order.

  • The same card in the Spanish deck: cups, swords, coins and batons. The same card in the French deck: hearts, diamonds, clubs and spades.

Talk to the table — or just your partner

Two separate channels. On "whole table" all four players hear you. On "partner" only your teammate across the table does — enough to agree on a suit without telling the opposition.

Mute anyone, block a player so you are never seated with them again, or report them.

Or say nothing at all

Pop a reaction above your own seat — or throw one at the player who just took your trick, and it sticks to their avatar. Works against the bots too.

Leave mid-trick. Come back to the same trick.

The game saves after every trick. Close the app, switch the phone off, come back tomorrow: the trick in progress is waiting with the same cards, the same scores and the same turn order.

The table, in your pocket

Landscape, full screen, no clutter: the felt, the cards, and the four players — nothing else.

Common questions

Is Balote free?

Yes. The whole game is free — offline matches, online matches and the full rules. There are optional purchases for coins and for removing ads, but nothing you need in order to play.

Can I play without a connection?

Yes. A full match against the bots needs no connection at all. You can even quit mid-trick and pick it back up exactly where you left off.

Can I play with my friends?

Yes. Open a private table and share the 6-digit code, or drop into a quick match against random players. Voice chat is included.

Do I need an account?

No. You can play as a guest straight away. An account only exists to sync your progress across devices.

Are these the real Moroccan rules?

Yes — 32 cards, 2v2, the Litige pot, the forced take on a face-up 10, Belote-Rebelote and the announcements. Nothing has been simplified.

Which languages does it support?

Arabic, French and English, with real right-to-left rendering in Arabic — not a mirrored Latin layout.

Pull up a chair. The table is set. 🌰
